Bristol Flyers make history with first win in Europe
Bristol Flyers head coach Andreas Kapoulas called his team’s first win in Europe a “special” night.
Flyers travelled to Bulgaria where they beat BC Spartak Pleven by 90 points to 73 in their opening game of the European North Basketball League.
“It’s just very emotional, just huge joy and happiness,” said Kapoulas. “I thought our guys played one hell of a game.”

Kapoulas added: “It’s a great moment for the club. I said to the guys, to play our first European game, it’s a big moment. And it’s an honour.
“To get our first European win while we’re playing our first European game is special. And these guys delivered. Hell of a job and hell of a performance.”
Brad Greene finished with a game-high 26 points at the Balkanstroy Hall, along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
The win saw the Flyers become just the second British Basketball League side to win a competitive game in Europe in the last 19 years.
Also in the Flyers’ European North Basketball League group are Uniclub Casino Juventus from Italy, Start Lublin from Poland, Hapoel Be’er Sheva from Israel, Landstede Hammers from the Netherlands, Tartu Ülikool from Estonia and Svendborg Rabbits from Denmark.
