England to play Sri Lanka at Bristol’s County Ground in 2021

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Nov 18, 2020

England played matches behind closed doors this summer, but next year they hope to welcome fans again – including for a one-day international in Bristol.

A five-Test series against India is planned to headline the men’s international summer, following a one-day series against Sri Lanka, and one-days and T20s against Pakistan.

England vs Sri Lanka in a Royal London One-Day International is due to take place at the County Ground in Ashley Down on Sunday, July 4 2021.

While the ballots for the men’s internationals are now open, the ECB stresses that the outlook around Covid-19 remains uncertain and so venues and dates are provisional and subject to change.

ECB chief executive officer, Tom Harrison, said: “We had an amazing summer of international cricket this year with some memorable performances, and we know how much enjoyment it brought to people whilst staying at home.

“Next year we’ve got another big international programme to look forward to, with the thrill of a five-Test series against India as the centrepiece, compelling white ball series for our men and women, and an Ashes Series for our Visually Impaired team.

“It’s an exciting prospect for England fans, and while Covid means there’s still a great deal of uncertainty, we really hope to be able to welcome fans back into the grounds safely next year to bring that unique atmosphere to stadia across the country.”
