Gloucestershire win to reach T20 Blast Finals Day

By Martin Booth  Saturday Sep 7, 2024

Gloucestershire are heading to the Vitality Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston on September 14 after securing their spot with a stunning quarter-final victory against the Birmingham Bears.

Man of the match David Payne took four wickets for 23 runs as Glos defended a total of just 138, with Cameron Bancroft top-scoring with 43.

It means that Mark Alleyne’s side will be returning to Edgbaston in seven days time where they will face Sussex Sharks in the semi-final for a chance to play either Surrey or fierce rivals Somerset – who they have already beaten twice this season – in the final.

Gloucestershire captain Jack Taylor said he was “buzzing” to make Finals Day for the first time since 2020.

He said: “What a performance. We obviously fell a bit short with the bat but that bowling and fielding effort was unbelievable…

“I’m just pleased for everyone at the club that we can bring a bit of success and hopefully we can keep the show going next week.
