History made in Bristol as England face India in one-off Test
For the first time in its illustrious 132-year-old history, the County Ground in Ashley Down is hosting a women’s Test match.
On the first day of the match between England and India, the hosts batted first and ended the day with 269 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Captain Heather Knight scored 95 in the first innings of the one-off Test: still a rarity in women’s cricket.
is needed now More than ever
England World Cup winner Alex Hartley told the BBC’s Test Match Special that Knight’s knock was “one of the best innings I’ve seen her play”.
“She looked confident and solid at the crease, she didn’t look like getting out until that one ball.”
England and India will return to the County Ground on June 27 for a one-day international and England are also playing New Zealand in Bristol on September 16.
