International cricket returns to Bristol

By John Thalassites  Thursday Sep 29, 2016

England’s one-day cricket team will return to Bristol next year to play the West Indies and Ireland.

England take on Ireland on Friday, May 5, at the start of a packed summer of limited overs cricket. Then, on Sunday, September 24, England face West Indies in Bristol.

Since a disappointing World Cup, England have been resurgent late in 2016. Impressive victories against Pakistan have renewed confidence in the national team, with Alex Hales, Jason Roy and Jos Buttler in especially good nick. Eoin Morgan’s men made the highest ever total in a one-day international this year, plundering 444 against Pakistan.

Ireland will boast the talent of former Gloucestershire man Kevin O’Brien. Meanwhile, West Indies are the current World T20 champions and will look to Marlon Samuels and Carlos Braithwaite for inspiration. Braithwate smashed four sixes in four balls against Ben Stokes at last year’s T20 World Cup, as England narrowly lost the final.

Tickets for the clashes at the Brightside Ground in May and October, 2017, go on general sale on October 10.

Tickets to watch both games will be available to Gloucestershire members from Monday, October 3, while ECB Twelfth Man members can order them from Thursday, October 6, before the general sale release.

Tickets start at £30 for adults and can be bought from www.gloscricket.co.uk/tickets.
