Video of cricket on pedestrianised street goes viral
On a flat wicket, the batter must surely think he could have done better.
But the almost unplayable delivery pitched on middle and went on to srike middle stump prompting wild celebrations from the fielders and crowd.
This was not the County Ground or Lord’s, however, but one of the newly pedestrianised segments of Cotham Hill.
is needed now More than ever
A video of an impromptu game of cricket that took place on the road on Saturday evening – with an umpire on crutches, wicketkeeper in full whites and pads, and a bollard standing in for stumps – has now gone viral.

The original video was posted by Paul Goodier on Instagram on Sunday night.
“This is as English as you can get,” wrote one reply to his video. “Go on lads!”
Another reply said: “And this is how Britain deals with cultural differences. Brought together by a common passion.”
“Now that’s a beautiful slice of Britain and what a bloody delivery,” wrote @IncMonocle on X as they shared the clip.
Someone else added: “I knew the cycle lanes would become useful.”
A local resident was not happy with the cricket, calling it “most unpleasant” in an email to Bristol24/7.
She said: “The crowd, which seemed to be alcohol-fuelled, was extremely noisy and scooters and cyclists who tried to pass were booed.
“To my mind, this was most unpleasant, and not what pedestrianisation is meant to be all about.”
