Bristol to host 2018 Tour of Britain stage
After a one-year absence, the Downs will once again be the start and finish of a stage of the Tour of Britain.
Stage Three of this year’s Tour, sponsored by Bristol business OVO Energy, comes to the city on Tuesday, September 4 with a 125km circular route.
The out-and-back course will take some of the world’s top cyclists into the North Somerset hills, including a climb of Cheddar Gorge, before racing along the Portway, up Bridge Valley Road, around Circular Road to the finish.
is needed now More than ever
This will be the third time that the Tour of Britain has called into Bristol.
In 2014 Michal Kwiatkowski timed his attack perfectly to take the stage win and move into the race lead. The race’s last visit to the city came in 2016, during which Grand Tour victor Tom Dumoulin and Rohan Dennis claimed wins during a split time trial/road race stage.
The Great Britain Cycling Team are confirmed to be taking part in the 2018 OVO Energy Tour of Britain, alongside other teams including Mitchelton Scott, Team Dimension Data, Movistar Team and Team Sky.
