Bristol Academy turn to crowd-funding
Bristol Acadamy manager Willie Kirk is offering to take the training sessions of any team willing to donate to a new crowd-funding pot for the Women’s Super League club.
The Vixens are trying to raise £6,000 to help it compete with more established clubs in the top league.
Kirk’s services are available in return for a £150 donation which will go towards strengthening the squad for the second half of the season and investing in youth development programme.
is needed now More than ever
Signed pictures and footballs are also up for grabs in exchange for donations, along with season tickets, VIP matchdays and individual matchday sponsorship.
The crowdfunding push has been launched as Bristol Academy sit at the foot of the Super League table, with just two points from six games.
The team had enjoyed relative success under now-England manager Mark Sampson who guided them to second place, two FA Cup finals and two European campaigns between 2009-13.
The club said on its fundraising page: “With game growing in quality, popularity and with the increased budgets of other clubs, these additional funds will enable the club to continue the fight to keep top flight women’s football in Bristol.”
