Bristol City change kit midway through season
Bristol City have taken the highly unusual step of changing their kit midway through the current season.
The change was necessitated by Hummel’s UK licensee, Elite Sports Group, going into administration.
The new kit is made by Ireland-based O’Neills and is officially the Robins’ 2023/24 kit, with the existing Hummel training gear currently still being worn on non-matchdays.
is needed now More than ever
O’Neills was founded in in Dublin in 1918 as a manufacturer of Gaelic footballs and it is now the largest sportswear manufacturing company in Ireland.
Their UK base is at Somerton Business Park in Somerset.
The double white stripes on the kit are a throwback to the late 1980s when the shirt from the 1989/90 campaign was sponsored by Hirerite.
The new goalkeeper kits are more in keeping with City’s present-day designs and feature a multi-coloured set of feathers on the home shirt and a vibrant pink pattern on the away.

Bristol City chairman, Jon Lansdown said: “We’re delighted to announce the partnership with O’Neills to become our new kit supplier across our men’s, women’s, and academy teams.
“Their products are manufactured within the UK which is a rarity in the industry and a benefit from a sustainability point of view, as well as ensuring a strong supply chain of products for both our squad and supporters throughout the year.
“Our iconic kits are a key part of our history and identity, and we believe O’Neills will allow us to continue to pioneer our kit designs for years to come.”
