Bristol City receive further recognition for environmental efforts
Bristol City has become the first football club to earn a new accreditation for their environmental and sustainable practices.
The club now holds GreenCode Accreditation in the EFL Green Clubs scheme.
The Robins are the first club to achieve the accreditation since EFL Green Clubs launched, with Forest Green Rovers holding the standard since the start of the scheme.

City are part of the Bristol Sport family of clubs, including Bristol Bears and Bristol Flyers, whose group-wide sustainability initiative, Project Whitebeam, measures and mitigates their impact on the environment.
Ashton Gate is also part of Project Whitebeam, with the stadium now generating more than 100,000kWh of electricity though solar panels, uses energy efficient lighting, has water saving devices and has zero waste to landfill.

Ashton Gate head of change & sustainability, Peter Smith, said: “We’re delighted to gain GreenCode accreditation following a thorough audit process.
“This shows that clubs can make system-level changes which will have numerous benefits for them, the community and the environment.”
Bristol Sport CEO Gavin Marshall added: “This is a wonderful achievement and one that we’re very proud of.
“It caps a very positive first year for Project Whitebeam and gives us a great foundation to work from as we continue to make positive changes.”
