City’s record goal scorer Abi Harrison leaves club ‘for next chapter of career’

By Martin Booth  Monday Jan 20, 2025

Abi Harrison was given a guard of honour at Ashton Gate as players and supporters bid farewell to the club’s all-time record goal scorer.

The 27-year-old Scotland international is leaving Bristol City after six years in which time she made 128 appearances for the Robins and scored 40 goals.

Harrison was in the stands to watch her teammates one last time on Sunday as they lost 1-0 to London City Lionesses, a result which sees City sitting in third place in the Women’s Championship.

“The time has come for me to move on to the next chapter of my career,” Harrison said.

“Leaving this football club after six years has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s the right thing for me.

“We’ve shared some brilliant memories together and I’ve made friends for life.

“To the fans, thank you for your brilliant support and for all the good times we’ve had together.

“I’ll never forget my time in this brilliant city.”

Bristol City Women chair, Gavin Marshall, CEO, said: “Abi has been a fantastic player for Bristol City and we are grateful for everything she has offered us both on and off the pitch over the past six years.

“She’s been a brilliant ambassador in the community and has delivered excellent performances and plenty of special moments which will live long in the memory of Bristol City supporters.

“Abi leaves a strong legacy and holds a place in City history as our record goal scorer and one of our greatest ever players.

“She departs with our best wishes for the future and she will always be welcome back at Ashton Gate.”
