Colin Sexstone joins Bristol Rovers board
Former CEO and chairman at Bristol City has joined the board of rivals Bristol Rovers as a non-executive director.
Sexstone, who owns the company Sexstone Consulting, was also previously the CEO at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. He joins Bristol Rovers in a voluntary position to help the club maximise their commercial return.
Chairman Nick Higgs, in a statement released on Bristol Rovers website, said: “We are delighted to have someone of Colin’s stature join us and we are confident his contribution will strengthen our operation”

Sexstone, who was born and educated in Bristol, was a successful chief executive at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club for five years, before joining Bristol City in 2001. During his time at Ashton Gate, Sexstone more than doubled revenues by opening up the venue to host other events.”
The 67-year old now hopes to use his expertise to similarly aid Bristol Rovers, as well as assisting in the development of the new UWE Stadium.
“My experience means I know how successful sports clubs operate, and I hope to help Bristol Rovers achieve more success on and off the pitch.”
“I have an extensive network of contacts throughout football and the financial world and I will use these for the benefit of Rovers.”
There is an historic rivalry between the two football clubs of Bristol, with Rovers being the older club, while City have enjoyed longer league status.
Acknowledging the long-standing rivakry, Sexstone said: “First and foremost, I’m a proud Bristolian who loves sport”
“Clearly the fact I was involved with Bristol City for so many years will sit uneasily with some fans, but my relationship with the Bristol Rovers board has always been excellent and my commitment now is exclusively with Rovers.”
