Gas Girls celebrate winning league in front of fans at the Mem
They are a team made up of teachers, police officers, paramedics and students, but together they are the Gas Girls and in front of 1,633 fans at the Memorial Stadium on Sunday afternoon they celebrated promotion to the National League.
Two stunning long-range efforts from Rianne Bourne-Hallett and a powerful header from Charlie Rowlands secured all three points against Liskeard Athletic, with goalkeeper George Hunt making a number of fine saves to ensure a clean sheet.
But promotion had already been secured even before this 3-0 victory, with Nathan Hallett-Young’s team hoping that the South West Premier League trophy will not be the only silverware that Rovers lift this campaign, as the team hope to retain the league cup they won last year to make it a league and cup double.

Heading into the National League, the Gas Girls – an initiative of Bristol Rovers Community Trust – will need more support in order to consolidate or even to push for another promotion.
So it bodes well for potential future financial contributions from the men’s club that Rovers chief executive Tom Gorringe was in attendance on Sunday, and he celebrated with the players on the pitch after the final whistle.

Bourne-Hallett even recreated Aaron Collins’ famous antics up the lamppost outside the Royal Oak on Gloucester Road as the Gas Girls’ celebrations continued long after the final whistle.
