Gas Girls hit six in the Women’s FA Cup

By Martin Booth  Sunday Sep 6, 2020

In their first FA Cup tie since being reformed, Bristol Rovers Women hit six past Bristol & West to secure a place in the preliminary round of the prestigious competition.

Libby Bell scored two goals, with Rosanna Rocha, Hannah Thompson, Jen Atherton and Zoe Fielden-Stewart also on the score sheet.

Betty Platt, Katie Davies and Annys Turner made their debuts for Rovers, with the club – an award-winning initiative from Bristol Rovers Community Trust – looking to build on their success so far in only their second year as a team.

The game at Lockleaze Sports Centre was the Gas Girls’ first competitive match since last season’s leagues were curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This win means a trip to Chipping Sodbury Ladies on September 20 in the next round of the Women’s FA Cup.
