Rovers CEO Tom Gorringe to go
With just four days until the first men’s match of the season, Bristol Rovers have announced that their CEO will be leaving the club.
Tom Gorringe arrived at the Memorial Stadium from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2017 as commercial director before becoming chief exec in 2021.
As chief exec, Gorringe was responsible for the day to day running of the football club.

During his time at the club, Gorringe saw the men’s team win promotion and helped bring the women’s team into the club fold as part of a new ‘one-club policy’.
He was heavily criticised, however, for allowing Joey Barton to continue as manager, with Barton eventually sacked in October 2023.
The club also announced in April 2023 their intentions to move to a new stadium in St Phillip’s, but these plans have since been scrapped.

“It has been a privilege to represent the club over the past seven years,” said Gorringe.
“The board has exciting plans for the stadium, the training ground, and on the pitch. I hope that the club can continue to progress on all fronts.
“Thank you to all the staff and our supporters who have made my time here so memorable. UTG!”
On the club website, a short official statement thanked Gorringe, who will be leaving the Mem at the end of August.
The statement said that “everyone at the club would like to wish Tom all the best in his future endeavours”.
