Rovers Women release talismanic captain Libby Bell

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jun 25, 2024

Libby Bell has played for Bristol Rovers Women since the club were reformed in 2019, scoring free-kicks for fun and most recently lifting the South West Premier League trophy at the Memorial Stadium.

But there is clearly no place for sentimentality in football, with many fans shocked that the captain has been released as the Gas Girls prepare for their first season in the National League.

Bell has left Rovers alongside another first time regular and club stalwart, Zoe Fielden-Stewart, as well as Charlie Rowlands who was one of the goal scorers at the Mem in March.
