Why The Championship Is One Of The Best Leagues In The World

By Advertising Feature  Thursday Jul 18, 2024

There are several great leagues in the world but the two best are both from England. If you ask the question of the best league in the world to the average football fan, the common answer would be the Premier League.

However, the Premier League doesn’t have Bristol City which instantly drops it some marks! In all seriousness though, the Championship is one of the best leagues in the world, but sometimes it gets relegated to a worse version of the Premier League and that is not right.

This is an understandable perspective from international fans like Spaniards, but the English fans think they need educating and to give it a chance. This is why you should read on, to understand and get the league more viewers.

The Football Standard
In the Premier League, there are some of the best teams in the world and it can’t be said that if the Championship teams played Man City they would get a result, and that you won’t see any of these teams in the Champions League betting odds, but that doesn’t mean that the football standard is low. The standard of football in the Championship is a lot higher than most people give it credit for.

English football as a whole has improved its game over the years since Guardiola joined the Premier League. The Championship has a great mix of teams that want to play passing and pressing football, as well as teams that just want to hoof the ball and get players in the box.

Examples
There are teams like Millwall whose manager, Neil Harris, has been known to just want to throw the ball up and not play the tiki-taka that has been popular for the last 5 years in England. Then there are teams like West Brom, who have a decent squad and one of the best managers in the league in Carlos Corberán, who plays a good attacking style.

This adds a layer of competitiveness to the league and one that the Premier League is missing. The difference between teams and the way they play is different but not too different to make the league have a big rift in like the Premier League and, especially, La Liga does.

The Players
Overall, the players in the Championship are at a really high level and the reason why the league standard is very strong. Over the last few years, it has seen a lot of players from the Championship join the Premier League and light it up.

Whether it is with a promoted team or a team in the Premier League that has signed a second tier player, fans are noticing the high level players that the Championship has to offer.

Players From The Last Few Years
Example-wise, a few players have joined the league over the last couple of years and have quickly become fan favourites. Two of the best examples have both been signed by Crystal Palace and you probably know who these are.

Eze and Olise have been two of the more exciting players in the league over the last few years, with them as a duo lighting the league up at the end of the season as Palace started to pick up pace.

Now, unfortunately, Michael Olise has signed for Bayern Munich but if anything this adds more to the claim. A player that came from Reading has now signed for a multi time Champions League-winning club.

Future Examples
There are several players that have recently joined the league that could see make a stain on the league and become favorites. One of the best examples is the young Archie Gray. Spurs in general will be fun to watch but with this young talent being a big deal for the club from Leeds, it shows the Championship talent.

Also, Morgan Rogers, who Aston Villa signed from Middlesbrough, will continue to start for Villa and be a great success for the Villains for years to come.
