100 day half marathon challenge launches
Bristol-based charity Empire Fighting Chance is inviting members of the community to join their ‘100 Day Challenge’, helping people of all running abilities to compete in the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday, September 15.
Last year, about 100 people took part in the challenge with the charity and more than 50 per cent were new to running. By tackling one mile at a time, participants will spend 100 days learning about their body, mind and willpower.
During the training plan, runners also test their skills as fundraisers, aiming to raise £100 each through sponsorship, and become part of #TeamEmpire, the team name for the half marathon.
is needed now More than ever

In 2018 over 100 people took part in the half marathon in aid of Empire Fighting Chance
Charities events fundraiser Sophie Birch says: “Running for Empire Fighting Chance and getting sponsored means this is much more than ‘just a run’ for our #TeamEmpire.
“As well as being an achievement for themselves physically, it’s an achievement for every single young person who we support.”
Empire Fighting Chance launched in 2013, after evolving from a small boxing project to become the UK’s largest non-contact boxing engagement programme.
The charity encourage young people to reach their full potential through a range of pioneering work, supporting vulnerable young people through their unique combination of non-contact boxing and personal mentoring.
Each runner will be able to enjoy ten complementary BoxFit classes and five boot camp sessions across Bristol. They will also receive tailored fundraising support during the challenge, an Empire Fighting Chance running vest and access to the private online #TeamEmpire group.
Empire Fighting Chance will launch the ‘100 Day Challenge’ on June 7, welcoming all #TeamEmpire runners to their boxing gym in Easton where they will take the first steps toward the Bristol Half Marathon.
