One-armed BMX rider to compete at NASS fest
Bristol BMX rider Jack Dumper will compete among hundreds of professional and amateur athletes from more than 40 countries at the NASS festival this weekend.
Jack, who was born without a lower left arm, will ride against global opposition including Australian superstar Logan Martin, X Games gold medallist Daniel Sandoval and fellow Brit Alex Coleborn.
His disability certainly hasn’t stopped Jack from riding his beloved BMX and learning tricks thanks to his unique method of attaching himself to the handle bar.
is needed now More than ever
The International BMX Freestyle Federation World Championships, hosted by NASS, are returning to the UK after a 28-year hiatus, with riders competing in freestyle specialities, park, vert, dirt and flatland, all in front of over 15000 festival-goers.
While the professionals will be competing for a total of $50,000 in prizes, Jack and his fellow amateur riders will be hoping to win a chance to be part of the professional series. On the Friday of the event, they will battle it out for a place in the Pro BMX Park World Championship.
Aside from the BMX, professional and amateur skateboarders will also showcase their skills. Just as with the BMX riders, there is the opportunity for the amateurs to win a place in the DEW Tour AM Series, taking their passion to the next level.
The event will feature one of Europe’s largest vert ramps standing at 14ft tall and built to Tony Hawk’s specifications, and a dirt course that has doubled in size for this year’s competition.
Alongside the high-octane extreme sports on show, four stages of live music will entertain the crowds including headliners Jurassic 5, Andy C and Knife Party.
The NASS Festival takes place from July 8-10 at the Royal Bath & West Showground. For more information and tickets, visit www.nassfestival.com.
