Ashton Gate to host both Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-finals

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jun 25, 2024

Both semi-finals at the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 will be played in Bristol.

Ashton Gate Stadium will not just host the two semi-finals but also two quarter-finals ahead of the tournament’s conclusion at Twickenham.

England’s draw in the competition means that they could play their last-eight and last-four matches in BS3 over the consecutive weekends of September 13 and 14, and 20 and 21 2025.

John Mitchell’s Red Roses will head to Sunderland, Northampton and Brighton during the group stages.

At the last World Cup in 2021, England made the final but were beaten by hosts New Zealand.

Ashton Gate operations director, Ross Wormald, said: “It’s an honour for the stadium to be hosting four of the six knockout games in the world’s top women’s rugby tournament.

“Ashton Gate is firmly established as a leading international sports venue with a track record of delivering world-class events.

“We have a highly skilled and committed staff and preparations are well underway to ensure that we deliver the best experience for fans, players and coaches come September 2025.”
