Bears players travel across city taking part in charitable activities
Bristol Bears are welcoming staff and volunteers from 15 different charities to Ashton Gate on Sunday to watch the Bears take on French side Zebre.
Ahead of Sunday afternoon’s match in round two of the European Challenge Cup, Bears players travelled across Bristol to take part in charitable activities as part of the club’s ‘Giving Back’ campaign during the festive period.
Events included giving pupils from the Bears Community Foundation’s Bright Sparks programme a stadium tour; a visit to see the young people at the Children’s Hospice South West in Wraxall, serving lunch at the Wild Goose Cafe in Easton and delivering Christmas presents to patients at the Children’s Hospital.

At The Mall shopping centre in Cribbs Causeway, Bears players were in fine voice as they sung carols alongside friends from Bristol Animal Rescue Centre.
There was also a trip to the Community Foundation’s Sums and Scrums lessons at Brunel Field Primary School in Bishopston and Hannah Moore Primary School in St Philip’s.
The day finished back at Ashton Gate with members of the Community Foundation’s Bears in Mind programme receiving a stadium tour led by England international Abbie Ward and up-and-coming Bears star Mollie Wilkinson.
The 15 Bristol-based charity partners coming to the match on Sunday are South Bristol Scouts, St Monica’s Trust, Gloucester Cricket Foundation, Flamingo Chicks, Ignite Bristol (Access Sport), Incredible Me (Oasis Long Cross), Ciao Foundation, Southmead Development Trust, Wooden Spoon, St Peter’s Hospice, Bristol Animal Rescue Centre, Heart Heroes, Star Scheme, Grand Appeal, Children’s Hospice South West and Project Zulu to Ashton Gate.
