Bristol Bears have released a statement after player Simi Pam revealed that she had received racist abuse on social media.
The statement said: “Bristol Bears is disgusted by the racist abuse sent to women’s player Simi Pam on social media.
“The club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour totally unacceptable and is working with Simi and the RFU [Rugby Football Union] to offer support and investigate this incident.”

Simi had shared screenshots of the abuse on her Instagram Stories earlier.
The abuse comes 18 months after the women’s rugby player – who was named Bristol24/7’s sportsperson of the year in 2021 – boycotted social media in response to the abuse she was receiving at the time, which included racist abuse.
Many have since shared their support for Simi on social media, including communications director at premiership rugby, Paul Morgan.
The 28-year-old, whose day job is a doctor, joined Bristol Bears in 2018 and has also represented the Barbarians.
