Bristol Bears braced for Premiership Women’s Rugby final

By Bobbi Carsley  Friday Jun 21, 2024

Bristol Bears Women are travelling to Exeter’s Sandy Park Stadium on Saturday to play in their first ever Premiership Women’s Rugby final.

Dave Ward’s side will be taking on Gloucester-Hartpury after beating Saracens away in the semi-final.

As they go in search of their first major silverware, Ward said that his team have got the ability to beat the reigning champions.

“I’m a proud Bristolian myself and I want this for the city,” said Ward.

“I just wanted to be part of the process of helping bring the team to where we are now, and the girls have really bought into that.”

Alisha Joyce-Butchers said Bears “thrive as underdogs” and that they plan to showcase “the best of women’s rugby” in the final, which will be broadcast live on TNT Sports with kick-off at 3pm.

The Welsh flanker said: “It’s really important to step back and realise how far you’ve come.”

Joyce-Butchers added that Bristol are “remaining focused on the challenge ahead. We’ve still got a game to play.”
