Bristol Bears Women win 115-0

By Martin Booth  Sunday Sep 19, 2021

Bristol Bears Women head coach Dave Ward used the basketball terminology ‘full court press’ to describe his team’s devastating century of points against DMP Durham Sharks.

Bears scored an astonishing 19 tries at Shaftesbury Park with backs and forwards all getting on the scoresheet.

Courtney Keight scored five tries, with others for Robyn Lock, Phoebe Murray, Amber Reed, Sarah Bern, Keira Bevan, Hannah West, Siwan Lillcrap, Lucie Skuse, Kyara Martin and Alisha Butchers.

Keight modestly said that her five scores were all team tries and she “was just lucky enough to be on that left wing”.

The 23-year-old Welsh international said: “As a team now we’re focused on being relentless and brutal.

Ward added: “The most pleasing aspect for me was that we scored through the forwards, we scored through the backs. It was a full court press…

“If we’re serious about our top-four ambitions, we need to be ruthless in those scenarios which we were today.”
