Giving girls the belief and confidence that rugby is for them
A new campaign from England Rugby joined forces with Bristol Bears Community Foundation ahead of Bristol Bears Women’s most recent match.
Love Rugby aims to give girls a voice and raise visibility that rugby union is a game where they belong.
Young female players from clubs across Bristol took part in a matchday experience which included a training session on the pitch at Shaftsbury Park, a Q&A session with Bears player Simi Pam and being flagbearers ahead of kick-off against Harlequins, which Bears won 26-7.

Pam, Bristol24/7’s sportsperson of the year 2021, only started playing rugby in her 20s.
“It’s nice to see that landscape change and seeing so many girls finding rugby,” she said.
Pam added that rugby “is so inclusive for all body types. It really promotes a lot of body positivity from a young age…
“It also gives them the opportunity to see what they could aspire to be and what they could aspire to be involved in.”
