Bristol’s best student veggie and vegan spots
No matter why you’re cutting your meat consumption, it’s easy for students to eat sustainably on a budget in Bristol. These are just a few of our favourite places to eat if you’re vegetarian or vegan:
Cafe Kino
108 Stokes Croft, Bristol, BS1 3RU
www.cafekino.coop
If you say the words ‘vegan’ and ‘Bristol’ in the same sentence, one of the most recommended spots to fill up on plant-based food is Cafe Kino. The cosy little community space is situated in Stokes Croft, around a ten-minute walk from the centre, and offers a huge array of food, from hearty breakfasts to burgers and beers. A personal favourite is the vegan sausage sandwich priced at just £4.50, which is both delicious and friendly to a student budget.
Pipal Tree
is needed now More than ever
28 Chelsea Road, Easton, Bristol, BS5 6AF

Family-run and situated in Easton, the experienced chefs over at Pipal Tree provide delicious Punjabi cuisine with a unique British fusion flavour. Flow
8A Haymarket Walk, Bristol, BS1 3LN
www.flowbristol.co.uk
Nestled in the centre of Bristol, right by the Bearpit, Flow serves up seasonal, plant-based dishes designed for sharing. The prices are a little bit higher than the rest of these places, so this is the perfect spot for an upmarket treat and a couple of cocktails too.
Koocha
10 Zetland Road, Redland, Bristol, BS6 7PL
www.koochamezzebar.com
Serving up inventive cocktails and an entirely plant-based menu, Koocha, situated just off Gloucester Road, provides just the Mediterranean mezze fix that Bristol needs. With the offer of four mezze dishes for just £12, Koocha is the perfect place to stop off whilst exploring the expanse of Gloucester Road, and has quickly established itself as a favourite amongst locals.
Thali Cafe
Various locations in Southville, Easton, Clifton, Montpelier and Totterdown
www.thethalirestaurant.co.uk
With five restaurants situated in locations around Bristol, wherever you are, you’re not far away from a Thali Cafe. What began as a food truck on the festival circuit is now a hugely popular spot for ethical and sustainable Indian dishes. Everything on the menu, from simple poppadums to vegan chocolate torte is delicious, and won’t break the bank.
Eat-A-Pitta
Various locations in St Nicholas’ Market, Broadmead, Clifton Triangle and Gloucester Road
www.eatapitta.co.uk
If you’re in the mood for something quick whilst on the go, but still want healthy, delicious vegetarian food, Eat-A-Pitta is the one for you. Chaiwalla

Fresh vegan Indian street food is their speciality. Their curries are steaming hot and topped with delicious salad delights, and the samosas are bursting with flavour and flaky pastry.
