Tom Miller: Paracosm
- Artists
- Tom Miller, Miller
Paracosm, meaning a detailed imaginary world, is a collection of new works by artist Tom Miller, or Miller as he is known in the Bristol street art scene. The show takes the form of a series of mixed-media paintings, as well as sculpture and light work in collaboration with artist Brad Bunce.
The works to be displayed are the result of a pursuit to express, portray and symbolise the experience of living as a mind, body and spirit in a constantly evolving transition of thought on the endeavour of righteousness.
Within this endeavour (as a created creator) is the constant escape of constructing a paracosm: a manipulated version of our world into a haven, continuously developing away from its origins of the physical world towards one of unfathomableness.
is needed now More than ever
Tom Miller is a Bristol-based artist, having lived in the city for four years chasing the dream of making a living from creating with paint working mainly in his bedroom studio and occasionally leaking out onto the streets.
Miller’s work primarily consists of mixed media paintings, constantly interchanging between acrylics, oils, inks, collage and spray paint. He uses these media to craft scenes and depictions of his envisioned version of life, transforming reality using reference from photos, sculpture and life to help create his world.
His work flows between depiction and abstraction, tending naturally to the surreal, which has been shaped by his huge range of artistic influences extending from lowbrow to the baroque, enjoying the scale and detail of masters such as Tiepolo, the expressionism of abstract painters and the freedom of contemporary muralism.
Show opening Saturday, July 1 4pm onwards. Exhibition then open Thur-Fri 12-6pm and Sat 1-7pm (and otherwise by appointment), until Sunday, July 23. For more info, visit www.itsall2much.com
