a walk in the woods

Date: Friday, Apr 5 2019 - Thursday, Apr 25 2019
Venue: HOURS

Paintings by Bristol artist Stuart Nurse.

“Stuart produces his paintings on location and in his studio. For his location paintings Stuart seeks out interesting landscapes rich in the textures and colours of plants.

“His enthusiasm and respect for the subjects he finds is reflected in recording of the actuality of what’s in front of him, combined with a rich and textural painting technique that brings out a sense of an emotional connection with the scene.

“A Walk in the Woods is Stuart’s account of his relationship with the natural world. The art works represent how he benefits from it and his thoughts and ideas that flow as a consequence.

“Paintings that Stuart has been working on for over four years reflect his concern with the issues that affect our shared environment, in particular the natural world. Inspired by everything from trees to quantum physics, Stuart’s imagery tells the stories of his relationship with the natural world and by extension how we all relate to it through the things we do and the understanding we try to achieve of the world around us and our place in it.”

Fri, Apr 5 6-9pm / Sat 6 & Sat 13 11am-4pm, or by arrangement until Apr 25.
