Launch event for Professor Helen Taylor’s new book, Why Women Read Fiction.

“In her enlightening and thought-provoking new book, Helen examines just how precious fiction is to contemporary women readers and offers candid insights into the challenges female writers often face, including publishers’ expectations and critics’ assumptions.

“Drawing on over 500 interviews with and questionnaires from women readers and writers, including Hilary Mantel, Helen Dunmore, Katie Fforde and Sarah Dunnant, Why Women Read Fiction explores how, where and when British women read fiction and the influence stories have on the way female readers understand and shape their own life stories.”
