Nimba Drum & Dance Workshops at Trinity
On Saturday, Trinity’s Fyfe Hall will be host to three unique workshops by NIMBA, a Cardiff-based African arts company directed by Idrissa Camara. Anyone is welcome.
NIMBA’s style is based on the ‘African Ballet’ tradition which was born in Guinea to tell the stories of the Griots (travelling musicians and the region’s oral historians) using artistic choreography, and made famous by Les Ballets Africains. Most of the members of NIMBA are themselves from Griot families or have been immersed in this culture since childhood.
NIMBA’s mission is to share the joy of Guinean dance and music to increase intercultural understanding and audience participation.
