Bristol Film Festival: The Raid

Director
Gareth Evans
Certificate
18
Running Time
99 mins

In Jakarta, Indonesia, Rama (Iko Uwais) is a young member of a SWAT team sent into a tower block compound to capture evil drugs baron Tama (Ray Sahetapy). But what the rozzers don’t anticipate is that Tama is defended by an army of machete-wielding, machine gun-toting junkie enforcers – plus a brace of violent martial arts killers. Having fought their way in, our law-enforcing heroes now find they have to fight their way out again. Welshman Gareth Evans‘ corking, relentless action flick was one of the best films of 2011.

This Bristol Film Festival screening kicks off the Fest’s spring season of Underground Cinema, screened in Redcliffe Caves. Go here for tickets.
