When her married lover declines to impregnate her, a widowed 42-year-old factory worker forges an intense relationship with an adolescent girl. Hungarian director Márta Mészáros‘s powerful monochrome 1975 drama became the winner of the first Berlinale Golden Bear awarded to a female director.

Screened in the Restored and Rediscovered strand of  Cinema Rediscovered, this is the UK premiere of the digitally restored 4K version.
