Encounters 2018: Super November + Q&A + Josie Long Stand-Up

Director
Douglas King
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
80 mins

This event was originally intended to be part of the Encounters short film and animation festival, but had to be postponed due to our old chum “circumstances beyond our control”. Now Encounters have rescheduled it as a pre-Christmas treat.

Comedian Josie Long and director Doug King have previously collaborated on two DIY short films: Let’s Go Swimming, which was nominated for two BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards for editing and photography, and Romance and Adventure. Made on a tiddly budget of £4,000, Super November is their debut feature. Directed by Doug and written by and starring Josie, it’s billed as a “mumblecore comedy-meets-socio-political drama”. Josie plays a romance-obsessed Glaswegian librarian in Glasgow, who’s so invloved in her exciting new relationship that she almost forgets about the mounting political turmoil and potential right wing coup.

The evening will begin with a brief introduction by Doug, followed by a short stand-up set from Josie. After the screening, they’ll both return for a Q&A. Go here for tickets and further information.
