The 1970s sure were strange, kids. Not only was The Goodies one of the most popular comedy programmes on TV, but Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor were also genuine pop stars. Their singles, notably Funky Gibbon, frequently outsold those of more ‘credible’ acts, leading to a string of Top of the Pops performances.
Oddie, who was was responsible for most of the music, recalls his unlikely pop star years in conversation with author and comedy historian Robert Ross in this Slapstick event.
