Dispossession: The Great Social Housing Swindle + discussion

Running Time
82 mins

Sleaford Mods: Invisible Britain director Paul Sng takes aim at the UK’s social housing crisis with this dense, fact-packed and informative documentary, narrated by Maxine Peake. Dispossession explores how government policy prevents local councils and housing associations from building homes for the 1.4 million people on council housing waiting lists and the quarter of a million homeless people in Britain.

It also tackles the social cleansing resulting from deliberate, cynical neglect of council estates by local authorities, which is used to justify ‘regeneration’ projects with private developers. This screening will be followed by a discussion about how the issues in the film affect east Bristol. Admission is free. Go here for more information and to register.
