The story of two chums, Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff, who founded Blue Note Records, which specialised in American jazz and championed the work of the likes of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk at a time when African-American musicians in the USA were discriminated against and ostracised.

It’s on screen to conclude this year’s Doc’n Roll film festival.
