Michael Caine takes a romp back through his youth in the Swinging Sixties, accompanied by the undeniably great sounds of the Beatles, Kinks and Stones. Voiceover interviewees include David Bailey, Joan Collins, Roger Daltrey, Marianne Faithfull, Twiggy, etc. Don’t go expecting much in the way of analysis from writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais beyond the unchallenged assertion that class barriers were shattered; just wallow in the great restored archive footage of groovy young things and starchy old squares.
Premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival (where it received an epic standing ovation) and subsequently screened at the London Film Festival, My Generation is now broadcast to cinemas followed by a live satellite Q&A with Caine himself.
