Bristol Palestine Film Festival: Personal Affairs

Director
Maha Haj
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
90 mins

In Nazareth, a grouchy elderly couple are stuck in their routine. Over the border in Ramallah lives their son Tarek, who resists his girlfriend’s demands for commitment. Their daughter Samar is about to give birth and second son Hisham lives a lonely life in Stockholm. Featuring a cast of non-professional actors, Maha Haj‘s directorial debut is a wry, bittersweet comedy-drama.

This Bristol Palestine Film Festival screening will be followed by a director Q&A, either in person or by Skype (TBC). It’s also shown with the short documentary Occupied Skies, which charts the struggle of young Palestinians to launch a kite festival in Israel-occupied West Bank.
