Some People + Q&A and panel discussion

Director
Clive Donner
Certificate
PG
Running Time
93 mins

Directed by the late Clive Donner, who went on to make the rather more swinging What’s New Pussycat? and Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush, this splendid 1962 curio stars Kenneth More and the very young David Hemmings and was conceived as a propaganda piece for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. It also makes brilliant use of its Bristol locations and offers a fascinating snapshot of the city in the early ’60s. See our feature here for more on the film.

The Watershed’s celebration begins with a full screening at 1pm. Then at 3:15pm there’s a Q&A session with guest Anneke Wills, who plays More’s daughter in the film and went on to be cast as companion Polly in both the William Hartnell and Patrick Houghton eras of Doctor Who. This is followed at 3:45pm with a panel discussion about the music, fashion and locations featured in the film, as well as 1960s British cinema and culture.
