Fired up with French Revolutionary fervour, siblings Jeanne and Jerome set off from Marseille for Paris, bent on separating toffs from their noggins. But wait – what’s this? – they both find lurrve along the way.

Most Soviet-era ballets have fallen out of favour, but this one was revived in 2008 by the Bolshoi’s then-director Alexei Ratmansky, who tweaked it a bit to introduce some ambiguity and extract much of the bludgeoning propaganda.
