Metropolitan Opera Live: Cosi fan tutte

Certificate
12A
Running Time
236 mins

Cynical Don Alfonso wagers that he can prove all women will be unfaithful if put to the test. Idealistic young soldiers Ferrando and Guglielmo accept the bet. Pretending they’ve been sent to war, they disguise themselves. Each then sets out to cop off with the other’s fiancee – Dorabella and Fiordiligi respectively.

A co-production between the Met and the English National Opera, Phelim McDermott’s new version of Mozart’s romantic battle of the sexes opera relocates the story to a carnivalesque environment inspired by the Coney Island of the 1950s – complete with bearded ladies, fire eaters, and a Ferris wheel. The cast features Amanda Majeski and Serena Malfi as the sisters put to the test, with Broadway star Kelli O’Hara as their feisty maid, Ben Bliss and Adam Plachetka as their fiancés, and Christopher Maltman as Don Alfonso.
