Nothing Like a Dame + intro & interview

Director
Roger Michell
Certificate
12A
Running Time
84 mins

Dames Joan Plowright, Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins and Maggie Smith gather at the country pile that Dame Joan shared with her late hubby, Sir Laurence Olivier, to celebrate their long-standing friendship in this BBC Arena documentary directed by Roger (My Cousin Rachel, Notting Hill) Michell. In a mortally disappointing blow to pre-teens, the rudeness of some of their reminscence has landed the film a 12A certificate. Indeed, the BBFC’s always hilarious parental guidance reports that: “There is a reference to working men’s clubs, in which children used to perform, as ‘paedophilia land’.”

It’ll be on the telly before long, but this event cinema premiere comes with a filmed introduction by Dame Joan and an exclusive interview with Roger Michell.
