Curzon & Sunset Cinema: Yesterday

Director
Danny Boyle
Certificate
12A
Running Time
116 mins

Another high concept romantic comedy from Richard Curtis, anybody? After the underwhelming Trash and About Time, he teams up as writer with equally in need of a hit director Danny Boyle, who returned to the Trainspotting franchise with T2 after failing to set the box office alight with Trance and Steve Jobs.

That high concept in full: a struggling singer-songwriter (Eastenders star Himesh Patel) wakes up after a mysterious global blackout to find himself in a world where the Beatles never existed. Naturally, he takes credit for all their songs and becoems a huge star. Expect a ‘careful what you wish’ for twist. Oh, and an exciting cameo by Ed Sheeran.

The Curzon’s outdoor screening takes place at Salthouse Fields, where you’ll find a pop-up bar, courtesy of the Salthouse Pub, gourmet fish’n’chips, and Hector the coffee van. There will also be plenty of fund-raising for the cinema’s ‘Fix Our Roof’ fund, so take plenty of coins (and notes) to chuck in the bucket. Go here for further information
