Robert Louis Stevenson‘s classic novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde has been adapted for the screen multiple times. Indeed, there were three film versions in 1920 alone. This one benefits from the casting of John Barrymore in the title roles. Legend has it that he achieved much of the transformation simply by contorting his face rather than using makeup.

Bristol Film Festival’s candlelight screening in Bristol Cathedral features live improvised musical accompaniment by  award-winning organist David Bednall. Go here for tickets.
