Inferno

Director
Dario Argento
Certificate
18
Running Time
108 mins

Back in 1980, Dario Argento followed Suspiria with this thematic sequel – a baroque New York-set supernatural horror flick. Poet Rose Elliot (Irene Miracle) discovers an ancient tome which leads her to suspect her apartment building may be playing host to the pesky Mother of Darkness – one of the three evil sisters who rule over the world. Together with her student brother Mark (Leigh McCloskey), who’s just returned home from Rome, she embarks on a journey into a deadly world of suspicious antiques dealers, gloved killers and sinister-looking cats.

It’s vintage Argento with all the usual – huge plot holes, dodgy performances, dubbed dialogue, grisly set-pieces – plus a great synth score by the late Keith Emerson of ELP fame.
