The Love Witch

Director
Anna Biller
Certificate
15
Running Time
118 mins

Talented feminist filmmaker Anna Biller doesn’t just write, direct and produce her films. She also designs all the lush sets and costumes, as well as composing much of the music. A ripe, affectionate spoof of ’70s horror exploitation flicks, her second feature, The Love Witch, slyly explores the fear of female sexuality as it tells the story of Elaine (Samantha Robinson) – an alluring young witch who sets out to use her powers to seduce a man into loving her. Alas, none of the candidates fulfil her desires.

It’s back on screen in the Watershed’s Reclaiming the Witch season.
