Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church

Director
John McDermott
Certificate
12A
Running Time
89 mins

On July 4, 1970, the late, great Jimi Hendrix played to his biggest ever US audience at the Atlanta Pop Festival. Newly restored in HD from the original 16mm negative, Electric Church captures the complete performance by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. This includes old favourites Purple Haze, All Along The Watchtower, and Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) alongside the then-unreleased Freedom and Straight Ahead.

It’s accompanied by a new documentary tracing Hendrix’s journey to the festival against the backdrop of civil rights unrest and the Vietnam War. Contributors include Paul McCartney, Billy Cox, the late Mitch Mitchell, Steve Winwood, Kirk Hammett, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and Rich Robinson.
