Julia Roberts stars as the world’s comeliest ‘ho and Richard Gere as her millionaire client in this moneyspinning romcom. Despite decidedly mixed reviews, it became a huge hit. As one of the film’s more stern critics put it on release back in 1990, this “proves that the Disney people can sell just about anything – including a misogynistic celebration of big business and prostitution.”
