Bristol Bad Film Club: Space Mutiny

Director
David Winters, Neal Sundstrom
Certificate

Running Time
91 mins

This month, those crazy fools at Bristol Bad Film Club are screening the 1988 South African stinker that’s been acclaimed as inspiring the best-ever episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Packed with spandex and tinfoil, appalling continuity errors and utterly dismal acting, Space Mutiny is arguably the worst sci-fi romp ever made. Hell, there’s even an astonishing space disco sequence. As one critic enthused: “No aspect of Space Mutiny is ruined by even a slight whiff of competence. There are no unwelcome surprises from a supporting actor with talent. No line of dialogue is clothed in logic or wit. The technical requirements of film making are dutifully ignored. It truly is a delicious all around shambles.”

Profits from The Bristol Bad Film Club’s screening go to The Kids Kino Project. Advance tickets, price £5, are available here.
