Blood Simple: Director’s Cut

Director
Joel Coen, Ethan Coen
Certificate
18
Running Time
96 mins

The Coens’ striking, noirish 1984 debut ranked as their most violent film until No Country for Old Men came along.

Bar owner Julian Marty (Dan Hedaya) suspects that his wife Abby (Frances McDormand) is cheating on him with his bartender Ray (John Getz). Suitably enraged, he hires amoral PI Visser (M. Emmet Walsh) to confirm his suspicions and then bump them both off. Complications inevitably ensue. Trivia note: along with Alien, it’s a rare example of a director’s cut that is shorter than the original film
